VIN AND SORI  SEX  PISTOLS -  GOD THE SAVE REACTION

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJP0GwWd474

The whole album is excellent & a landmark in music. Noel Gallagher said "I would have exchanged all my albums to make this album, and I'm an arrogant bastard" The Sex Pistols appeared on the Bill Grundy show with their entourage including Suzi Sioux of the future Siouxsie and the Banshees, part of the Bromley Scene which was part of my life. Well during the programme Bill goaded them to swear more, and a retired colonel in Kent, sort of your Texas without the religious bible thumping, kicked his TV in anger- he was real PUNK. 1977 was the year of the Silver Jubilee there were many strikes & industrial unrest, by 1979 there were food shortages in the supermarkets, lots of empty shelves but that didnt last long, piles of rubbish in many streets with rats as part sof the refuse were on strike and bodies piling up in morgues. It was the 'Winter of Discontent.' Margaret Thatcher won the election on the back of this

Princess Diana committed adultery before Prince Charles. The marriage had problems from the outset. They went on honeymoon to Balmoral, the Queen';s Scottish home, with ther family present so that was not romantic at all. Prince Charles is 14 years older and didn't have much in common with the 19 year old Diana. There were a number of affairs, then Charles committed adultery by getting back together with the only woman he wanted to marry. He wanted to marry Camilla back in 1973 but he was serving in the navy & she married a Catholic. That marriage ended in a divorce immediately before Charles & Camilla announced their engagement, I believe she had converted to RC so had to renounce that in order to get married as Catholics are banned from the Line of Succession.

Britain has a Constitutional Monarchy meaning the monarch's power is very limited. The Prime Minister has to report to the monarch every week, Tuesday normally, The Queen signs every Act of Parliament but the monarch does not refuse to give Royal Ascent; however it has come out that the monarch can send back an Act requesting it be reviewed before signing.
The last monarch to try to refuse to sign an Act of Parliament which would make it law was William  IV, who tried to refuse signing the abolition of slavery in the Empire in 1834, slavery had been abolished decades earlier in Britain, starting in 1794 when the Abolition Act was initially defeated in Parliament. The Prime Minister, First Lord of the Treasury, as they were called prior to the 20th century, replied to the king, "the last monarch who did that was beheaded."

Sori:"It was so friggin repetitive" THAT IS PUNK! It is anti- Prog Rock with its 15 minute songs with thousands of notes & $4000 a day studio.
Insanity Defence has a very strict criteria, people who are fully sane commit GBH & murder, there does not have to be any mental illness prior to violence, or sub clinical conditions: minor psychiatric condition which is less than requiring clinical treatment and the subject is able to exercise full self control to resist the intent to commit GBH or homicide.
I know of cases where people have gone to prison where they should have been committed to a psychiatric hospital as they committed homicide during a schizophrenic episode.
However when I was still a newspaper editor there was a woman who randomly knifed 2 men to death & attacked a couple more at random in one day. She escaped to Wales with the help of a couple of men before she was captured. Photos she took of herself included licking a knife! She is sane & was during the attacks. She did it because she enjoyed it.

The Yorkshire Ripper, a murderer who got the sobriequet due to the mystery of his identity, a recall of Jack the Ripper, entered an Insanity Plea claiming voices in his head made him kill 13 women & attack 7 more. He was found to have some schizophrenia but it was sub clinical so the plea was dismissed by the jury. However the criminal psychiatric assessment consists of 2 independent psychiatrists, one found Peter Sutcliffe to be criminally insane, the other stated he was sane during the murders. He was convicted as sane as his actions were not involuntary. The background to Sutcliffe is that he showed pathological and criminal behavior before being a teenager. He came from a stable and happy home, so that was not a factor.
At 14 he suffered a severe brain injury in an accident. So a teenager during a period of sexual development with a history of pathological behaviour suffered a brain injury which impacted his moral and sexual development. Had psychiatric clinical and social treatment been provided by the State immediately it would have at least improved the possibility of not descending into violence
