Anthony Blythe the Hypnotist

Youtube has provided a resource for uncovering forgotten, or almost never known bands (short post on that coming "With Apologies to Anne McElvoy"). Books do not have the same resource; unless they are very old and have been added to certain sites.

Books suffer from a short print run, this occurs with  a specialist  subject and hence rarely sell many, and then never reprinted.    The few copies outside of the Bodelian or the British Library being only discovered serendipitously by an academically minded browser or the academically minded actually reading the bibliography of a book that  was  discovered by an academically minded browser, serendipitously.

Anthony Blythe's Autohypnosis   was such a book. I found it in Bexley Libraries when I had just turned 16. Probably Sidcup library and would be reading it on my way to the naval college. So I can date it to October.  The book included a few details on the work of the famed contemporary hypnotist  Elman and the work of Soviet  psychologists.   An academic text that was accessible for the lay reader and  provided a thorough foundation in the practice of hypnosis.  The only information I  now have on this book is the notes and photocopies I made from the book.  It, alas, appears to be almost impossible to find. Bexley Libaries have long since disposed of their copy ( upcoming article Libraries Today are not for learning).

Here is some more information from a lost source about Peter Blythe, Anthony's father, more famous book-

More Civilised (Part 1)

So 2020 has been marked by a largely quiet time in Great Britain & aggrevated confrontations  in the north west of the USA in Washington state and other Democrat run areas.

Something that has caused a  stir in Britain is the unreleased report into the grooming gangs that many, no doubt not all, have been arrested and convicted following years of  outrageous neglect and apathy towards  these crimes of rape and paedophilia; also towards the young girls themselves.

The concern from the government is a public backlash since the contents of the report are more incendiary than initially antipated.  Having known victims of grooming I can predict some of the contents. The Conservative government of Boris fears a public explosion of anger.  Had Jeremy Corbyn formed the government in December 2019, the report  would have been buried even further.

If this type of report was released in the 1990s or earlier there would have been a far greater  furour with protests and a rise in vote for rar right parties in the next election.   In the 1950-1970s it would have been accompanied with violence. In the 1930s or earlier, the murdering of innocent people who have a semblance relating to the perpretators would have been  likely; despite capital punishment existing for murder.

Commendable that a more measured approach would come from the public. Providing it is one of refusal to make indiscriminate attacks and not one of apathy.

Next day after writing this, a report was released. It showed, unsurpringly, a large number of white child abusers, I'm not far from one of the three top security prisons which contains some of those vermin who sometimes get scarred or bumped off. But the report covered aboutr 30% of the cases examined, so it's incomplete.

A load of  opinion writers who call themselves left wing (middle class larpers as usual) were crowing about the demographics in the report & blaise to the suffering of the victims and the details relating to victims:  repetition of abuse, concentration of numbers etc.  Ignoring victims is not proof of liberalism or tolerance.
